The Tianjin Juilliard School is located in the Yujiapu Financial District of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area. The school offers a Master of Music Degree from the Juilliard School in New York. It is the first performing arts institution in China to offer a U.S.-accredited Master of Music degree. The project covers an area of about 1.9 hectares, with a total construction scale of 45.000 square meters and a building height of about 38 meters.

"For Tianjin Juilliard, we have incorporated the local cultural characteristics and style of Tianjin on the basis of integrating the architectural style of the Juilliard School in New York," Charles Renfro, partner of DillerScofidio + Renfro, a New York Architecture firm. The Tianjin Juilliard School is built in a greenway along the promenade. The central hall is a porous space, and the four corners of the hall are distinctive masonry buildings, similar to large megaliths. Each corner represents a central function hall: Odeum, Concert Hall, Black Box Theater and Music Library.

The Tianjin Juilliard School is located near the river, and its unique shape just like an art sculpture in the open space of riverside.

The buildings of the Tianjin Juilliard School are all irregular polyhedral shape, and have strict acoustic requirements, which puts forward higher requirements for the whole glass curtain wall system. After strict selection and unanimous approval by the owner and the designer, Tianjin NorthGlass undertook the task of producing the curtain wall glass. This project is equipped with five-glass two-cavity double- laminated ultra-clear high-performance energy-saving glass. After careful pre-production planning, strict control in the production process and the inspection of each piece of finished glass, NorthGlass takes the "zero defect" glass finishing level as the target, strictly controls the tempered wave and stress pattern, and controls the internal waveform deformation within 0.08mm. The glass products not only meet the high requirements of customers, but also perfectly  matches the special status of The Tianjin Juilliard School in national culture.

A Rock - like Architecture That Grows in Verdure

The school is like a rock growing out of a large grassland, which is cut by knife and axe to form edges and corners. The transparent quartz mixed with the rock and shines brightly.

The convex shape of the ground echoes with the triangular space formed by the upper corridor bridge.

An Architecture That Add Radiance and Beauty to Each Other with The Surface of the Water

The architecture and the pool form a perfect mirror image. The calm water, like a mirror, reflects the architectural image of the school and its surroundings, creating a dramatic change.

With the movement of the footsteps, different scenes change in the pool.

An Architecture That Permeated by Sunlight

Entering the building, a transparent hall appears in front of you. Natural light falls from the roof, creating a soft light and shadow effect in the hall. This is the most comfortable building I've ever seen with natural light. Natural light fills the interior of the building, adding vitality to the interior space.

Three corridor bridges are set on the second floor of the building to connect the four thematic buildings, so as to facilitate people to move between buildings.

As an international Conservatory of music, it must contain superb phonological techniques.

The Tianjin Juilliard School is an international level music professional school, and its hardware and software facilities represent the world-class level. Its architectural form also reflects the high level of modern and avant-garde everywhere. The whole project is constantly integrated with innovative elements and the " stringent " requirements of the client. The complex architectural shape makes the design concept of the Tianjin Juilliard School go beyond the drawings and turn the dream into reality. With the spirit of craftsmanship, Tianjin NorthGlass has transformed the glass curtain wall of the Tianjin Juilliard School into another high-quality glass curtain wall case. In the future, the school buildings will become an important landmark of the New District, adding a bright pearl to the Blue Bay of Haihe River.
